Philippe Schœller is French composer born the 13th of April 1957 in Paris. He started his musical education at an early age by learning the piano, choir singing, harmony, musical analysis, etc.
From 1982 à 1986, he studied in Pierre Boulez’ class at the Collège de France and in Franco Donatoni and Iannis Xenakis’ classes at the Conservatoire et à l’École des Hautes Études de Paris. He created a special bond with Helmut Lachenmann, Henri Dutilleux, Elliott Carter and Wolfgang Rihm which influenced his career later on.
His work has often been rewarded. He hosts many conferences and teaches musical analysis and musical composition at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Lyon and leads masterclass at the Ircam.
Composer for the Orchestre lyrique de région Avignon Provence in 2011-2012, Philippe Schœller also wrote musics for films.
